In Compass Charter Schools’ Online Learning Program (Compass Online), we celebrate and encourage scholars to gather together in powerful enrichment activities like the Compass Charter Schools Scholar Clubs Program (Compass Clubs). Compass Clubs are scholar-driven and guided by an experienced staff club advisor for a truly well-rounded learning journey at our tuition-free K-12 public school, serving Los Angeles, San Diego, Yolo, and adjacent counties.

Compass Online scholars, whom we proudly call Firebirds, rise up to the challenge of our rigorous academic program. They are further empowered to join together in their own scholar-led specialized clubs. Compass Clubs foster excellent leadership and cooperation skills, organization, and socialization.
Compass Clubs invite scholars to meet regularly online with like-minded individuals over a specific topic of interest, such as chess, gardening, coding, or world languages. Engaging in organized clubs gives scholars an opportunity to form new friendships with other scholars of diverse backgrounds while improving their communication skills. Our scholar clubs program helps scholars learn by doing, absorbing information in a more well-rounded creative way for accelerated academic performance while improving social and mental health.

Once a scholar enrolls in Compass Online, they can review the list of scholar clubs and sign up for the ones that interest them the most. Our Compass Clubs community is virtual and provides a fun environment for scholars to share their passions and hobbies while building meaningful connections! The scholars then get to practice their decision-making skills and choose the club(s) of their liking. If the scholar cannot attend the live meeting, a recording can be requested from the club advisor. Scholars can create clubs, rise up into leadership roles within an existing club, and join as many as can be handled alongside their academic journeys.

“I really enjoy science and music and all that stuff, so it was so much fun that I found out they had a music club and performing arts club. They have a Minecraft club which is also awesome. And they have a STEAM club, actually, which is also fun because they have extracurricular activities. I can build robots, and I can code them, and I can control them… I have a lot of stuff that I got from those clubs.” – Avery, 8-grade.
