Compass Charter Schools is proud of its scholars and uses its Scholar of the Month program to recognize their accomplishments. Scholars are nominated by their Supervising Teachers (ST) and staff. The program also ties into the Compass core values of achievement, respect, teamwork, integrity, and communication. Scholars are nominated by teachers and staff for their academic excellence, work ethic, leadership skills, and virtual involvement and selected by the leadership team for the monthly honor.

Online Scholars

Serenity H., 1st

Online Elementary School, Los Angeles

Serenity is a hard-working scholar who stays on task and progresses through the Accelerate Education curriculum with confidence. She is a strong reader and is performing above grade level in all subjects. Serenity attends Learning Lab regularly and actively participates. She is eager to learn! Serenity embodies and represents all of our Compass core values of Achievement, Respect, Teamwork, Integrity and Communication. Serenity is a pleasure to have in my class and I especially love seeing her big smile in Learning Lab. Keep up the great work, Serenity!

Anthony M., 8th

Online Middle School, Los Angeles

Anthony is doing well in all of his classes and recently advocated for himself and asked to be placed in an advanced math class for more of a challenge. He is responsible, and motivated, and a good communicator.

Justice W., 12th

Online High School, Los Angeles

Justice W embodies our ARTIC values. Always encouraging, and always ready to lift others up, Justice brings energy, humor and kindness to every class. His enthusiasm is contagious, and his support for classmates makes our learning environment stronger.

McKenna R., 2nd

Online Elementary School, San Diego

McKenna is a very smart scholar who has a positive attitude and wants to always do her personal best! McKenna comes to class, prepared and ready to learn. While in class, she is engaged and volunteers to read. McKenna is kind and respectful to her classmates. She also works hard on her assignments and shows wonderful character qualities. I am so grateful to have McKenna as one of my 1st grade scholars this school year. Congratulations, McKenna, and keep up the fantastic work!

Online Middle School, San Diego

Kimberly impresses me every year with her determination and work ethic. She always tries her best and does a great job communicating with teachers. She consistently does well in her classes, and is helpful and motivated.

Reese M., 12th

Reese is off to an excellent start this year. He consistently applies himself, puts forth his best effort, and stays organized and on top of his responsibilities.

Evelyn T., 5th

Online Elementary School, Yolo

Evelyn is a very kind and friendly scholar. In learning labs, she shows a genuine interest in her classmates and always seeks ways to connect. She is also very engaged in class and loves to participate! She takes pride in her school work. It is evident that she works hard to always do her very best. Keep up the good work, Evelyn!

Arianah W., 8th

Online Middle School, Yolo

Ari was new to Compass last year and adjusted to Online learning very quickly. She did a great job last year in 8th grade math as a 7th grader, and is off to a good start in Algebra 1 this year as an 8th grader. She is helpful and contributes positively during her Zoom classes.

Daniel P., 12th

Online High School, Yolo

As usual, Daniel is off to an outstanding start to the school year. He is logging in and progressing on his classes daily. Additionally, he continues to maintain high levels of interaction with his teachers and continues to demonstrate ARTIC values on a daily basis.

Avalyn M., 1st

Options Elementary School, Los Angeles

Ava has done an excellent job in transitioning from the Explorers Program over to a new Supervising Teacher this year for First Grade. She has settled into a routine and is succeeding and showcasing all of her talents during daily Live Sync instruction. She is always doing her best and I am excited to see all of the continued growth that will happen this school year!

Options Elementary School, San Diego

Ariana is a caring and helpful student who always stays engaged in her learning. She attends live classes daily, and during our Morning Mission she is always willing to participate and share her ideas and thoughts. She is a hard worker and turns in neat and complete work products. She started out with Compass as a quiet TK scholar and is growing into a confident and outgoing learner. She has such a sweet heart and always has kind things to say that lift her fellow classmates up.

Alondra P., 6th

Options Middle School, San Diego

``Alondra has only been in middle school for a few weeks, but you wouldn't know it! She (in partnership with her younger sister and their mother) has embraced the new Modules units and has immersed herself fully in each one. Her submissions each week demonstrate deep understanding and interest -- she takes time to be sure she is communicating clearly such that I do feel some of her presentations could be used by a teacher in a live sync lesson!``
Her ability to articulate her learning during class connections has been impressive, allowing her to communicate well. This skill not only highlights her understanding of the material but also showcases her achievements in navigating difficult situations. Olivia's commitment to her education and her ability to persevere through adversity serve as an inspiring example.

Evan R., 10th

Options High School, San Diego

I’m so proud of Evan for taking on big changes and trying new things. He’s performed in spaces he used to avoid. Trying new things is paying off both academically and individually. Way to go Evan. So proud to watch you grow year after year!
I have witnessed him gradually take on more responsibility for his own education and success, and it has been a privilege to support and cheer him on throughout this journey. I am filled with pride as he completes his high school courses ahead of schedule!

Furthermore, Alejandro is a multilingual scholar, excelling in academic work in two languages with equal proficiency. I know that you prefer to stay out of the spotlight, Alejandro, but I am eagerly looking forward to celebrating your achievements as you cross the stage at the San Diego graduation ceremony in June!

Naya E., 1st

Options Elementary School, Yolo

Naya is an incredible scholar. She always does her best work and is always excited to demonstrate her learning and showcase her favorite academic achievements during connection meetings. Naya is growing and progressing exponentially and I cannot wait to see all that she will accomplish throughout the school year.

Online Elementary School, Los Angeles

Jesus always attends learning labs looking eager and organized! He always has his materials ready and is highly engaged in class. Jesus has a very calm presense that shows he is ready to get down to the business of learning. He shares great ideas in class and always has great responses. His school work is organized and well-written. It is clear that Jesus takes a lot of pride in his work and truly works hard to put forth his best. Keep up the great work, Jesus!

Luke comes to PE and works out every morning. He participates in labs and is a very good example of a scholar that follows the ARTIC values.

Brooklyn recently went through some really hard times but that didn't stop her from being successful in her courses. She handled herself beautifully through it all. She is always so kind in her interactions with me and I appreciate her attitude about life.

Jeremy would attend P.E. in the morning, even before he was in Middle School. He logs in consistently and does his online work, which is exceptional. He has also attended study sessions for help when needed, which shows that he takes accountability for his learning. He exhibits ARTIC values during Labs and in all his communications with his teachers. Very good job becoming an amazing Online scholar.

Selah is our Scholar of the Month for her consistent attendance in Spanish 1 Learning Labs, active participation, and strong growth mindset. She comes prepared, contributes thoughtfully to activities, and persistently practices new vocabulary and structures. Her dedication and positive attitude elevate our learning community.

Aria M., 4th

Options Elementary School, Los Angeles

I am so proud of Aria and all of her hard work and accomplishments so far this year. She is constantly growing and improving and she always does her best. I love seeing her in our weekly Live Sync classes as she always has a smile on her face and is actively engaged in the activities. Aria is a scholar that everyone can count on; she is reliable, dependable, and responsible. Keep up the great work Aria!

Avery W., 7th

Options Middle School, Los Angeles

Avery has had a fantastic start at her new learning center. She adjusted quickly, made new friends, and is already contributing to the leadership class by helping plan school events. She is respectful, always willing to help, and often arrives early learning center activities. She’s excelling in all her classes, consistently turns her work in on time, and is mastering online platforms like Google Classroom with ease. She demonstrates strong teamwork by including others and is a person of integrity, working hard and doing her own work. I am so proud of her achievements!

Bethany Barbosa is consistently demonstrating strong academic performance across all her classes. She completes assignments with care and attention to detail, and always submits her work on time.

Jaxon has started his Kindergarten year off strong! He regularly joins Morning Mission (live synch) and actively participates. He is a respectful classmate and is already demonstrating a good understanding of the topics presented. I'm looking forward to watching Jaxon continue to succeed this year!

Jose consistently strives to do his best. He is diligent in participating in his live classes and sessions. Jose maintains a positive attitude, is enthusiastic about learning, and enjoys modeling positive behaviors while helping his peers and siblings.

Nicole has done such an incredible job thus far. She has really made tremendous improvement in all of her classes as well as in her STAR benchmark assessments. Most notably, she has really shown a lot of improvement in her writing- she sure does have a creative imagination and aspires to be a writer someday. She is very creative, kind, diligent, hard working, respectful and puts in a lot of effort into her work. She is always open to constructive feedback, very organized, and self-advocates when she needs help. She has such a great attitude and work ethic. She is always responsive and consistently attends her weekly check-in meetings. Nicole is a true example that when she is given the motivation, support and encouragement, hard work and effort truly pays off. Mahalia is such a hard worker who always has a smile on her face. She is very engaged in her learning and brightens up our daily zoom classes! She is very creative and her work always has an artistic aspect to it. Her writing has improved so much over the past year and I am so proud of all she has learned! She is great at showing me all her learning during our connections!
