Thousand Oaks, CA – J.J. Lewis, Compass Charter Schools (Compass) Superintendent & CEO, is recognized as a 2022 Modern Governance 100 recipient for the second year in a row; this year in the Boards & Governance Innovator category by Diligent. Diligent formally announced this year’s recipients on Monday, September 12 at the Modern Governance Summit.
The Modern Governance 100 is designed to provide board members, elected officials, executives, and peers the opportunity to honor governance, risk, compliance, and ESG professionals. It recognizes the important contributions that Lewis has made to impact Compass and the community.

Lewis has served as the Superintendent & CEO of Compass since October 2015. During his tenure, he has created opportunities for educational partners to elevate their voice at Compass through the Scholar Leadership Council, Parent Advisory Council, and Staff Advisory Committee. He has also worked with his team to shine a light on the work of Compass through quarterly newsletters, The Compass Chronicle, annual reports, and an increased social media presence, including blogs and testimonials.
