Thousand Oaks, CA – Compass Charter Schools (CCS) announced today its new representatives on the El Dorado Charter SELPA’s Community Advisory Committee (CAC). They were appointed by the CCS Board of Directors during their regular meeting last Thursday, October 3.
The CCS Board of Directors appointed Pam Towobola to represent CCS of Los Angeles, Randi Pugh to represent CCS of San Diego, and Jenni Beckwith to represent CCS of Yolo and serve as members of the CAC to help encourage more community involvement regarding the Special Education Local Plan and build partnerships to increase support for special education programs and resources.
The CAC is a dynamic, collaborative partnership that consists of educators, parents/guardians, and community members. It provides an opportunity for members to be involved and provide input to the Charter SELPA regarding the Special Education Local Plan, annual priorities, parent/guardian education, and other special education-related activities. The CAC holds three meetings annually to address topics of interest to families of children and young adults with disabilities.
“It is truly a privilege to announce our newly appointed members to the El Dorado Charter SELPA’s Community Advisory Committee,” said J.J. Lewis, Superintendent & CEO, who also serves on the SELPA’s CEO Executive Committee and Selection Committee. “Congratulations to Pam, Randi, and Jenni for being appointed to the Community Advisory Committee.”
This is CCS’ first year appointing members to the CAC, who will also join the CCS Parent Advisory Council (PAC) to help share information between the CAC and PAC. The new committee members will advocate for special education-related programs, services, and activities and they will help families gain more access to resources and support within their community. The first meeting of the CAC is next Tuesday, October 15 at 4 pm. CCS is proud to be partners with the CAC and continues to encourage community involvement and advocacy to support scholars and their families.
