Compass Charter Schools Names their
November 2021 Scholars of the Month

Thousand Oaks, CA – Compass Charter Schools is proud of its scholars and uses its Scholar of the Month program to recognize their accomplishments. The program also ties into the Compass core values of achievement, respect, teamwork, integrity, and communication. Scholars are nominated by teachers and staff for their academic excellence, work ethic, leadership skills, and virtual involvement and selected by the leadership team for the monthly honor.

Compass Charter Schools of Los Angeles (serving the counties of Los Angeles, Kern, San Bernardino, and Ventura):

Online Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Cesar T. of Granada Hill

“Cesar is always checking to be sure he has his assignments complete. He is very aware of expectations and works hard to meet them!” Shares Crystal Chavez, Online Elementary Teacher.

Options Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Joseph S. of Camarillo

“Joey has been working so hard, especially in Science and Social Studies,” shares Corey Reynoso, supervising teacher. “He has created some wonderful work samples in each subject and shows his confidence while discussing the topics during our connection meetings. He is kind and respectful during connections and seems to really enjoy the topics he is studying.”

Online Middle School Scholar of the Month: Esmeralda M. of Monrovia

“Esmeralda is doing an amazing job this school year,” shares Beth Foster, Middle School Math Teacher. “She is attending live labs, mentoring sessions, and contributes in her classes. She has done a great job of keeping up pace with her work and asks for help when she needs it. Her outstanding communication skills have helped her succeed. She is hardworking, positive, and kind to her peers. She embodies the determination of an exemplary Compass Scholar!”

Options Middle School Scholar of the Month: Maleah C. of Chino

“Maleah is a hard worker,” shares Jennifer Hall, supervising teacher. “She is kind and considerate. She is new to personalized learning, but she is adjusting well. She puts in the time and effort that is needed for her studies.”

Online High School Scholar of the Month: Tamia W. of Alhambra

“Tamia has made exceptional strides this semester to work diligently and efficiently in her remaining classes, propelling her way towards graduation!” Shares Jen Hobson, High School Teacher.

Options High School Scholar of the Month: Avigael H. of Los Angeles

“It has been rewarding to witness Avigael’s first two months of 10-grade,” shares Stephanie Lee, supervising teacher. “I continue to be impressed by the depth and detail of her work samples, particularly in Biology and English. For example, when she gets an answer wrong on a quiz or test, she writes a summary of what the correct answer should have been and often uploads an audio recording to explain her responses or notes. I find this extremely mature as it shows a desire not only to get through the material but also to make sense of it. Additionally, her video recordings of her progress in the Russian elective are so impressive; she pushed to have that course added and is making the most of it! Finally, Avigael has enrolled in her first college class for Pre-Calculus at Santa Monica Community College; it was a lot of work to make it happen. Despite this, she has stayed focused and positive. I look forward to the rest of the school year and seeing what she will accomplish!”
