Thousand Oaks, CA – Compass Charter Schools is proud of its scholars and uses its Scholar of the Month program to recognize their accomplishments. Compass Charter Schools of Los Angeles (serving the counties of Los Angeles, Kern, San Bernardino, and Ventura):

Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Shekinah C K., of Gardena

Ms. Julia Taylor, Supervising Teacher shares, “Shekinah scored in the 99th percentile in Istation. Her work samples are exemplary. Shekinah is a diligent student that works hard daily (even on weekends) to achieve first-grade standards. I offered an IXL subscription to Shekinah, and she placed in the third grade level in Math and Language Arts. Shekinah has achieved so much this year!”

Middle School Scholar of the Month: Andrew B C., of Redondo Beach

Ms. Erica Angelo, Middle School Teacher shares, “I would like to nominate Andrew because of his impressive academic achievement first semester. He received all A’s. Incredible work, Andrew!”

High School Scholar of the Month: Annelli J A. of Los Angeles

Ms. Elaine, High School Teacher shares, “Annelli achieved straight A’s in Fall 20-21, a reflection of her strong work ethic, engagement with her teachers, and commitment to working on pace and taking a great deal of pride in her work! Way to go, Annelli!”

Compass Charter Schools of San Diego (serving the counties of San Diego, Imperial, Orange, and Riverside):

Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Ryker G., of Oceanside

Dr. Yulonn Harris, Supervising Teacher shares, “Ryker is extremely ambitious and outgoing. He is working at an advanced higher level in all of his subject areas and strives to absorb as much as possible during his learning time. He just started reading Level 5/6 books and is doing amazingly well! I love the videos that he sends that share his learning experience and the short summaries of what he is doing. His consistency is infectious and exciting. Ryker is very driven always to do his best. He has such great fortitude and is always excited to learn. I am so happy to have a scholar exhibit this type of energy at such an early stage of life. So proud of him as he supersedes all my goals in life! I want to be like him! Way to go, Ryker – keep it up! Proud of you!”

High School Scholar of the Month: Mick E., of El Cajon

Ms. Rosette Sowell, Online High School Teacher shares, “Mick has challenged himself with honors classes and an AP English class during his senior year at Compass. He also earned straight A’s first semester, even in his challenging AP class. Mick continues to put his academic studies first, and the results are evidence of his work ethic and determination. His achievements last semester deserve to be highlighted and recognized. Mick, you have dominated this year, and we are so proud of you! You will excel at college next year, and you have a bright future ahead of you. Congratulations!”

Compass Charter Schools of Yolo (serving the counties of Yolo, Contra Costa, Colusa, Lake, Marin, Napa, Sacramento, Solano, Sonoma, and Sutter):

Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Jasmine G J.H., of San Rafael

Brenda Lasley, Supervising Teacher shares, “Jasmine is such a determined and curious learner. She has persevered and worked to improve in areas that she struggles with due to her dyslexia. I have been so impressed to see her go from barely writing a sentence, it taking a couple of hours, to free writing a half-page! She has been willing to meet almost weekly with enthusiasm. Jasmine is excited to learn! I am very proud of her perseverance, and I cannot wait to see how much she grows.”
