San Diego, Ca. – Compass Charter Schools (CCS) hosted an eighth-grade promotion celebration and high school graduation ceremony to honor its accomplished scholars yesterday, Monday, June 11 at Maderas Golf Club in Poway. The ceremonies promoted seven eighth-grade scholars and celebrated 10 graduating high school scholars.

The high school graduation ceremony included opening remarks from J.J. Lewis, CCS President and CEO, and a keynote address from Janae Smith, high school coordinator. Each scholar received their diploma to signify their graduation and enjoyed a light lunch to celebrate the start of a new chapter in their lives with Dr. Kathy Granger, CCS Board of Directors Treasurer, and their family and friends.

“CCS delivers the most proficient curriculum, along with knowledgeable and friendly academic personnel and administrators and a very caring and nurturing counseling department,” said Lisa H., mother of graduating high school scholar Sabella H. “ I encourage others to consider this wonderful opportunity to share, participate and understand their children’s goals, and to watch them grow and learn from a virtual educational experience.”

The high school graduation ceremony also gave special recognition to several scholars for their outstanding academic achievements. In addition to receiving a diploma, Sabella H. and Alexis S. received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher for two or more semesters, along with teacher recommendations, and Damion D. and Sarah D. received the President’s Award for Educational Achievement for outstanding educational growth, commitment, and teacher recommendations.

CCS also hosted a promotion ceremony for eighth-grade scholars to celebrate their academic progress and welcome them into high school. Each scholar received a certificate of promotion and enjoyed light refreshments following the ceremony to celebrate with their family and friends.

CCS has allowed my scholars to focus without distractions, become independent thinkers and take personal responsibility for their accomplishments,” said Joy E., mother of promoting scholar Kristilynn E. “The flexibility has allowed them to progress at their own individual pace and dive deeper when interested. The teachers, counselors, and staff have been promptly available and supportive going beyond all expectations. I’m very proud of my scholars’ academic achievement and personal development through their experience at CCS.”

In addition to receiving their certificates, two scholars earned special recognition for their academic achievements. Ian C., Kristilynn E., Kelsey K., Aurora K., and Michael S. received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence, and Christopher G., Lochlan K., and Hannah S. received the President’s Award for Educational Achievement.

“I am so proud of our scholars,” said Lewis. “They have persevered throughout their Compass educational journey and I am confident that they are prepared for their next chapter in life. Please join me in celebrating our Class of 2018 for their incredible achievements, and class of 2022 for promoting to high school!”
