By March 20, 2018 News

Thousand Oaks, CA – CCS is proud of its scholars and uses its Scholar of the Month program to recognize their accomplishments. The program also ties into the CCS core values with February focusing on communication. Scholars are nominated by teachers and staff for their academic excellence, work ethic, leadership skills, and virtual involvement, and selected by the leadership team for the monthly honor.

Online Elementary School Scholar of the Month: America S., of Hollister

“America is a model scholar who demonstrates kindness and respect towards others during her learning labs,” said Michelle Kenbeek, elementary school teacher. “America does her best in all of her courses and attends weekly one-on-ones to strengthen her math skills. She is a creative hard working young lady!”

Online Middle School Scholar of the Month: Xander I., of Los Angeles

“Xander always communicates in a thoughtful, productive way,” said Cynthia Ross, middle school teacher. “He takes ownership of his work and uses feedback to grow, learn, and improve. He has shown increasing maturity during his learning labs and his participation is consistent and shows great understanding. We all look forward to seeing his continued progress as a scholar.”

Online High School Scholar of the Month: Hailie W., of Victorville

“Hailie is truly dedicated to working hard and earning good grades,” said David Spink, high school teacher. “She performs at a high academic level and earns high marks in her physical science class. During learning labs, Hailie actively participates by communicating with her peers and her teacher to successfully understand the physical science lessons. Congratulations Hailie and keep up the hard work!”

Options Program Scholar of the Month: Pickle P., of Irvine

“Pickle is an enthusiastic and creative scholar who demonstrates a true love of learning,” said Morgan Kohler, educational facilitator. “She produces quality work in all school subjects, but is particularly strong in communication skills. In her Navigators’ Community classes, Pickle participates in class frequently and shows strong leadership abilities during group activities. At home, Pickle excels in language arts, composing beautifully written essays, journals, and responses to literature. In addition to mastering the English language, she also spends time each week learning French. Pickle is a great example of a strong communicator and a lifelong learner.

“Congratulations to all of our February Scholars of the Month. There are many talented scholars enrolled at CCS, and this program is one of the many ways we recognize and celebrate their hard work,” shared J.J. Lewis, President & CEO. “Please join all of us at CCS in celebrating America, Xander, Hailie, and Pickle for being named our February Scholars of the Month!”
