Compass Charter Schools (CCS) Names their April Scholars of the Month

By May 21, 2018 News

Thousand Oaks, CA – CCS is proud of its scholars and uses its Scholar of the Month program to recognize their accomplishments. The program also ties into the CCS core values with April focusing on respect. Scholars are nominated by teachers and staff for their academic excellence, work ethic, leadership skills, and virtual involvement, and selected by the leadership team for the monthly honor.

Online Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Madison W., of Long Beach

“Madison is a wonderful scholar who continues to strive, achieve and excel in her academics,” said Joyce Popular, elementary school teacher. “She actively participates in Learning Labs and is always eager to learn. She shows respect towards others and demonstrates integrity. Madison is willing to work with other scholars and communicates well with her teacher and scholars. She embodies and represents our Compass core values of Achievement, Respect, Teamwork, Integrity and Communication. It is such a pleasure to have Madison in my class!”

Online Middle School Scholar of the Month: Petra S., of Malibu

“Petra is a self-advocating and very communicative scholar,” said Cynthia Ross, middle school teacher. “She is resourceful and reaches out to her teachers on a regular basis regarding her academic performance and to ask questions about her classes. She is a problem solver! It is clear from her questions that she tries very hard to find solutions to problems  independently. She is very diligent about her studies and is currently earning A’s in all of her classes.”

Online High School Scholar of the Month: Gevorg A., of Los Angeles

“George went above and beyond while volunteering as a Voter Outreach Coordinator during High Schools Voter Education Weeks,” said Alyssa Ginn, high school teacher. When asked to participate he jumped right in and even volunteered for future projects, too! He helped polish a presentation that was shown to all of his peers to promote high school voter pre-registration. He is truly a hardworking, polite and wonderful scholar!”

Options Program Scholar of the Month: Bailey N.S., of Fresno

“Bailey has really blossomed this year,” said Kristin Beasley, Educational Facilitator. “She was once a cautious scholar who has grown into a very engaged and responsive participant at The Learning Village in Fresno. She enjoys science and loves to express her opinion and share in the joy and excitement of learning with her friends and teachers. Bailey models persistence. She is kind and earnest in all of her efforts. She has established deep friendships and continues to demonstrate competence as both a scholar and a community member!

“Congratulations to all of our April Scholars of the Month. There are many talented scholars at CCS, and this program is one of the many ways we recognize and celebrate their hard work,” shared J.J. Lewis, President & CEO. “Please join all of us at CCS in celebrating Madison, Petra, Gevorg, and Bailey for being named our April Scholars of the Month!”
