THOUSAND OAKS — Compass Charter Schools (CCS) is excited to announce that it will host a series of events called “Coffee With Compass” to allow the parents, guardians, and staff within its virtual community to gather in-person across California throughout the spring.

The next event is set for Thursday, February 15 at 10:30 am at the Milano Coffee Co in San Diego. CCS parents and staff, including President & CEO, J.J. Lewis, will have the opportunity to strengthen the Compass community by meeting each other in-person and discussing a variety of topics. Other “Coffee With Compass” events are set to occur in local coffee shops in Huntington Beach, Bakersfield, Fresno, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino.

“We are very excited to host Coffee With Compass for our learning coaches and staff,” said Karle Roberts, Family Engagement Coordinator. “Our staff and learning coaches engage with each other virtually on a daily basis and it’s important to continue to strengthen those relationships through in-person gatherings. Our Coffee With Compass events are the perfect opportunity for parents within our virtual community to meet other parents, our teachers and our staff, to talk about anything and everything. I am really looking forward to these special events and meeting our families in person!”

CCS is a virtual independent study charter school serving grades TK-12 with a scholar enrollment of over 1,000. In 2012, CCS began with a small team of educators in Southern California committed to providing a safe, family-centered alternative to the traditional brick and mortar school for scholars throughout the state. While CCS has evolved over the years, the desire to provide excellent educational options has remained strong with our online and homeschool programs. Over the past five years, we have educated the highly gifted, the bullied, the athlete, the actor, the academically-challenged, the chronically ill, and many other scholars who sought a personalized educational experience outside traditional classroom walls.

“CCS is excited to offer its learning coaches and staff a new opportunity to engage with each other during Coffee With Compass,” said J.J. Lewis, CCS President & CEO. “A special shout-out to our Parent Advisory Council who collaborated on this idea with our team. This is another example of listening to feedback from our families and creating an experience to enhance and expand the overall Compass Experience we provide our entire community. Our virtual community is well-connected and engaged with each other on a daily basis. Our Coffee With Compass events are an additional way to offer our community the support and guidance they need to be successful. I am truly looking forward to meeting our learning coaches and hearing about their experiences at CCS.”

CCS believes that a well-connected community is an essential part of successful online learning for scholars and their families and continues to offer them the opportunity to play a leading role in their virtual school community. CCS encourages scholars and their families to share their experiences and suggestions in an effort to continue to improve their educational journey.
