THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Compass Charter Schools is celebrating #LoveTeaching Week, a campaign and celebration dedicated to teachers inspiring our youth from Thursday, February 14 through next Thursday, February 21. This annual Valentine’s Day campaign is meant to bring positive attention to a profession that can often be challenged with negativity.

“Our teaching staff brings our virtual community to life” explained J.J. Lewis, Superintendent and CEO. “They are responsible for supporting our mission to create innovative, creative, and self-directed learners. It can be difficult to build a strong virtual community, but the time and dedication that is invested into learning labs, connection meetings, scholar workshops, and more,  allow us to reach our scholars in a number of effective ways. I would like to extend a loud and proud “thank you” to each of our teachers for the amazing work they perform each and every day to support our scholars.”

Teachers at CCS are loud and proud about supporting scholars along their educational journey.

Katherine Hooper, elementary school teacher, shared, “I love working with the elementary families who are just beginning their homeschooling journeys. I am able to build valuable relationships and follow the growth and development of the scholars I teach over the years. I am thankful to each of my scholars for giving me such a rewarding career!”

Teachers and educational facilitators at CCS have a unique job, as they are providing instruction and guidance virtually. Though scholars are not meeting daily like a traditional brick and mortar school, our teachers and EFs build strong connections with our scholars. These relationships are extremely valuable, as they are necessary to ensure scholars are receiving the tailored education that they require as individual learners.

“I know there are scholars who are in situations that limit them from attending a brick-and-mortar school,” mentioned Shannon Davis, high school Spanish teacher. “I feel honored to be able to provide a quality education to scholars from the safety and comfort of their own home. CCS makes it possible for teachers to meet the needs of each individual learner.”
