Lindsey Chalco Paz has a knack for getting kids engaged in learning! She has a rich expertise in reading strategies and SEL growth. This expert background knowledge allows her to teach students so well. The families on her roster are so fortunate to have her as an ST. As someone who gets to teach alongside her, I'm always impressed by her live instruction sessions. She is also a huge asset to our team and has a great perspective of homeschooling/SPED and independent study. Great job this year, Lindsey! You should be proud of a job well done!

Melissa Ramon is so wonderful with students! She's the kind of Teacher you'd choose for your own children to have. She is great with working with diverse learners and makes everyone feel included. She champions diverse learning and supports families so well. She has such a kind heart and her students feel that she's "in their corner". Families are lucky to work with such a caring Teacher! As someone who gets to teach alongside her, I get to see her talent often. She has done such a great job this year supporting students and their families. Great job, Melissa!

Yoli Wiederrich is amazing! She is not afraid to dive into challenging topics. She is so organized and knowledgeable! She is one of the first ones to jump in to help a fellow Teacher with any questions they may have. She is great with students and families are lucky to have her as an ST. Yoli brings great personal experience to our team. I'm so thankful to get to learn from her and see her teach! She is a wonderful ST and I'm so happy that I get to see her talent in action! She has a way of making sense of each subject and is very engaged in their studies she’s the reason why we are choosing to stay with Compass

Mrs. A has been such a bright light for Isla and our family. We're so grateful for all her hard work, her excitement about teaching, her patience, and her kindness this year. Thank you for helping to make our first year so amazing!

We want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate Kelly McCauley for the impact she has had on our family over the years. Kelly has been our supervising Teacher since 2016 and has worked with all seven of my children throughout the past ten years. She has walked alongside our family through pregnancies, diagnoses, IEPs, and the many ups and downs that come with homeschooling and raising children with different needs. She has seen some of my children from their earliest school years in TK all the way through graduation. Her consistency, patience, guidance, and care have made a lasting difference in their education and growth. As our youngest prepares to move into first grade next year, I have been reflecting on just how much of our homeschool journey Kelly has been part of. We are deeply thankful for the support, encouragement, and dedication she has shown our family over the years. Teacher Appreciation Week felt like the perfect time to say thank you.

Ms. Danielle is the perfect fit for our family. My kids have been with her for almost 4 years now. She is helpful and flexible to our family’s needs. We appreciate very much our Ms. Danielle-she’s the best!

Joyce Popelar has been a fantastic first Teacher for my kindergartener Ellie. Ellie has had a great time getting to know the virtual classroom setting and truly loved her first year of school. Mrs. Theobald, Thank you so much for making our high school transition easier! This year has been full of firsts for our family as we enrolled for the first time in a charter school. Your kindness and patience have really helped ease our doubts and concerns. You have been there to help guide us through this process, which has been completely new to us. Thank you for being so quick in answering our questions and providing direction. We truly appreciate and enjoy having you as our Supervising Teacher.

We’ve had three wonderful Teachers so far at Compass- Heather McFarland, Cristina Compalas, and Sheila Villalobos, plus a great team of Teachers on daily zoom calls. Ms. McFarland eased my nerves when we first started homeschooling. She is always so patient and over time, she has felt more like a friend in our homeschooling journey. Ms. Compalas is always so thorough and helpful in keeping us on track, and she recognizes and acknowledges my daugther’s hard work and achievements. Ms. Villalobos was always so joyful and encouraging in our monthly meetings. I am so thankful for all the hard work and time that our Teachers put in to make my job as a Learning Coach easier.:)

Kristy is one of the most genuine and human people I have ever met. She not only checks my son’s schoolwork, but she truly cares about him and about me as well, and that means so much to our family. What drives me every day at Compass Charter Schools is the power of truly personalized learning. Every Scholar is different, and here, we honor that. I get to meet each learner exactly where they are and help them grow toward their full potential. There’s nothing like seeing that moment when something clicks, the excitement, the confidence, the pride in reaching a milestone they once thought was out of reach. I also value the partnership with Learning Coaches. Supporting families and helping them strengthen how they guide learning at home is just as meaningful as working directly with Scholars. Designing and planning unique learning experiences for each Scholar keeps the work creative, purposeful, and deeply impactful. This isn’t just teaching, it’s advancing what teaching can be in a personalized model, and I’m all in.

I teach at Compass because kids that learn at home, deserve the same education and opportunities as kids that go to in person school. I want to shout out Mrs. Kari Watt. Kari has been with Compass for 10+ years and she is the best 3rd grade Teacher I have ever had the privilege to know and work alongside. Her passion for teaching is evident! I have seen the way she knows each one of her Scholars, whether that is in an SST or an IEP. She is not only good at what she does, it is evident that she loves what she does! She is always trying to figure out ways that her Scholars learn best. She is continually manipulating her coursework to meet the needs of all of her Scholars. Her learning labs are fun and engaging, not to mention highly attended. Her Scholars and their families love her, as do I.
