MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT & CEO LIZ BRENNER:

Dear Compass families,
Opportunities to get together in your community are the most requested improvements on our annual survey. At Compass, we know that providing opportunities for families to get to know each other strengthens our community. 
Please join us this Friday, May 15, 2026 from 10:00am–11:30 AM for a fun-filled Compass Social at the park! Families and scholars are invited to enjoy exciting, high-energy games while connecting and spending quality time together.

ASSESSMENTS

  • CAASPP- It’s our last week of CAASPP testing- let’s finish strong and complete all assessments! Please reach out to your Supervising Teacher (ST) if you need to schedule these assessments.
  • PFT - LCs of scholars in grades 5, 7 and 9: the Final PFT is this Friday, 5/15. Please be on the lookout for a reminder email this week - you will receive more information via email by Wednesday 5/13.
  • ELPAC- We’re continuing with ELPAC through May 29, 2026. Multilingual scholars should reach out to their ST if they haven’t scheduled the ELPAC assessment. 
  • LCs can review the Reclassification Flowchart (for LCs).docx to understand the process of Reclassification after we receive ELPAC scores. Please ask your ST if you have any questions.

FINAL JUNE Service (VCI) Orders is May 13th


Provider News! 
The window to accept pre-applications for interested providers for this school year will reopen for the 2026-2027 school year on June 15th. Providers can find the Pre-Application for Interested Businesses form* link on the Compass website (Options Program Page).

Vendor Spotlights:

Dessert Anatomy  (services; in-person; TK-12th; Redlands)
•Dessert Anatomy offers hands-on baking, cooking and decorating programs that build academic, life, and social skills through experiential learning. Classes for students ages 4-18 integrate math, science, creativity, and cultural appreciation in a fun kitchen environment. We are located in Redlands and serve the surrounding cities of Loma Linda, Mentone, Fontana, Rialto, Highland, Yucaipa and San Bernardino.

Wine Country CrossFit  (services; in-person; ages 7 - 16; Napa)
  • Our Kids and Teen programs make fitness fun, engaging, and empowering! Teens build strength, athleticism, and confidence through skill development, high-energy Workouts of the Day, and games, while Kids enjoy playful, game-based workouts that develop coordination, confidence, and teamwork. Both programs incorporate weightlifting, gymnastics, cardio, and basic nutrition, helping young athletes feel strong, capable, and ready to perform-whether on the field, in the gym, or just in everyday life.

Safe Swim Academy  (services; in-person; TK - 12th, San Diego)
  • At Safe Swim Academy, we offer monthly private or semi-private swim lessons for swimmers of all ages (TK through 12th grade) and abilities. Locations: Mission Bay, Mission Valley, San Carlos / Allied Gardens, LA Fitness Eastlake-Chula Vista.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

A big thank you to all who attended our SEPAC meeting on April 30th! It was great to see such a strong turnout. You can find the resources and a summary of our discussions in the meeting agenda here.

Don't forget to join us for our final meeting of the year on May 28, 2026. We’ll be joined by Bradley Larson (Program Specialist, El Dorado SELPA) and Carol Miller, who will help demystify the world of school finance. We hope to see you there! Zoom Link

ENGAGEMENT SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK

We had an amazing time at our Compass Socials on April 28 in Napa, Thousand Oaks, Costa Mesa, Pasadena, Bakersfield, Costa Mesa, Rancho Cucamonga, and Temecula! Thank you to all of our scholars and learning coaches that came to enjoy the afternoon together!

VIRTUAL KINDERGARTEN CELEBRATION AND 5TH GRADE CULMINATION

The end of the year is quickly approaching, and we are excited to celebrate our Kindergarten and 5th-grade scholars! We invite you to join us for these special virtual celebrations hosted by our Superintendent & CEO, Elizabeth Brenner, including special guest speakers! In addition, we will be hosting grade-specific virtual receptions for our 2025-26 kindergarten and 5th-grade scholars following each virtual celebration. Registration for these events is open through Friday, May 29. 

LEARNING COACH ACADEMY

Today, May 11 at 1:00 PM!

Join us today for our Learning Coach Academy Informational Session: Year in Review and Looking Forward: Reflecting on the Past Year and Setting Goals for the Next. During this session, we’ll take time to celebrate the highlights, growth, and lessons learned throughout this school year while also looking ahead and setting meaningful goals for the next. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect, reset, and head into the future feeling encouraged, prepared, and confident. There’s still time to join us, and we would love to see you there!
We’re also excited for next week’s Learning Coach Academy Social Session on May 18 at 1:00 PM: Summer Learning Ideas: Fun & Enriching Activities for the Break. Families will have the chance to share creative ways to keep learning fun throughout the summer through hands-on activities, simple routines, and meaningful experiences the whole family can enjoy together.
