Compass Charter Schools is a member of APLUS+, an association dedicated to advancing personalized learning and supporting schools that provide flexible educational options.
APLUS+ requires its member schools to renew this pledge annually as a condition of membership.
APLUS+ and its member schools have built their work around these standards for more than 20 years. The pledge affirms that participating schools will continue to uphold them in the operation and management of their charter school programs.
As operators of public charter schools offering independent study, participating schools pledge to uphold the following standards in their programs, operations, and service to scholars.
We remain focused on scholars and on creating, managing, and strengthening public charter schools within independent study.
Our programs, events, and activities are designed to meet scholars where they are educationally and support their academic success.
We follow applicable state law in the operation of resource centers, school sites, and independent study programs.
We provide innovative and tested instructional methods, including self-paced learning, that help scholars think, communicate, and achieve.
Our resource centers, school sites, classrooms, and programs exist for academic programming and the benefit of the scholars in our care.
We reject misconduct that does not reflect the values, programs, or practices of responsible personalized learning schools.
We model strong integrity, use sound business practices, and follow requirements established by authorizers, county offices, and the California Department of Education.
We responsibly manage public funds and value independent annual audits that support financial accountability and operational integrity.
We uphold integrity, trust, quality, and value while providing personalized learning that is relevant, rigorous, and responsive to each scholar’s individual needs.
The Pledge of Excellence is reflected in how Compass plans, teaches, manages public resources, measures its work, and remains accountable to scholars, families, authorizers, and the public.
Curriculum, instruction, academic support, and school activities are designed around scholar progress and meaningful educational outcomes.
Compass is committed to sound financial management, appropriate use of public funds, independent audits, and transparent business practices.
School leaders and staff review outcomes, respond to feedback, strengthen systems, and continue improving the personalized learning experience.
Upholding the pledge requires more than annual affirmation. It requires consistent decisions and practices that protect scholars, support families, comply with public-school requirements, and preserve confidence in personalized learning.
The Pledge of Excellence is one part of Compass’s ongoing work to maintain strong educational programs, responsible governance, public accountability, and trusted partnerships.
Through its APLUS+ membership, Compass joins other personalized learning schools in supporting strong educational options, responsible charter school operations, and continued improvement across independent study programs.
