Compass supports scholars and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The McKinney-Vento Program helps protect access to school, reduce barriers, and connect families with available services and community resources.
The Scholar Community Advocate works with families to identify school barriers, determine available support, and connect scholars with Compass and community resources.

Eligible scholars may receive support with access to a computer, internet service, earbuds, or other tools needed to participate in the Compass learning program.
Families may be connected with counseling, academic support, and other Compass services based on the scholar’s individual needs.
The Scholar Community Advocate may provide referrals to shelters, food assistance, housing resources, and other community-based services.
The Scholar Community Advocate will learn more about your family’s current situation and help identify school-related needs and available resources.
Tell us about the housing change, school barrier, technology need, records issue, or other concern affecting your scholar.
The Scholar Community Advocate reviews the information provided and identifies which Compass services or procedures may apply.
Families may be connected with Compass staff, school support, or appropriate community agencies based on the needs identified.
Complete the needs assessment to share educational, technology, records, counseling, housing, food, or community-resource needs. The form is available in English and Spanish.
